JAH T'S BIO

I was born in St. James, sunny Jamaica and soon moved to Kingston, the capital. I loved music from a very young age…music was always around me, in my home, on the streets where I lived and the vibrant sound systems.

I started singing with the sound system, Dub A Tone, with my brethren, One Arm Bandit in Kingston and we travelled around Jamaica singing with other sound systems.

In the 1970s, I came to the UK and started to DJ. I began following the legendary sound system, Sir Coxsone, Mafia Time and Quakercity. Sir Coxsone Sounds inspired me to start recording music and I was approached by the record label, Xclusive Records, which was based in Brixton.

My first recording was So Much Love, a cover version to Little Roy. I then recorded Picture On The Wall, a Freddy Mackay track for the Midnight Rock label.

In 1985, my music brethrens and me, started our own label called Hot Line Records. We released our successful debut album, Feeling Of Love, which was supported by reggae group Chosen Few. The label grew from strength to strength as we released singles from the album.

In the 1990s, I decided to take some time out from recording music and concentrated on writing songs for other artists and developing new musicians. With the support and encouragement of my brethrens, in 2007, I decided to start recording songs again.

I began building my fanbase by singing cover versions to classic old favourite songs from established artistes such as The Temptations and Kenny Rogers, in clubs across the UK. And now in 2010, I am releasing my new album called Love Story, which contains many of my old classic hits….look out for it on iTunes!

Love and Blessings Jah T
